What's In the Library

What’s available at
the Library? Books, of course!
Books for all ages, from preschoolers to adults. There are
picture books, novels, paperback books, factual or nonfiction books on
almost any topic, reference books and atlases, large print books, and
even talking books for the blind and physically handicapped. There are
65,000 books.
Magazines
The Trenton Library has over 200 magazine and journal
titles, and subscriptions to nine newspapers. Need an article on a
specific topic? Using the online magazine indexes helps to speed up the
search, and many of the full text articles can be printed as you
search.
Videos,
Books on Tape and CD, Music CDs
Tired of reruns on television? Try one of the DVDs or videos
available at the Library. We have more than 1000. Listen to a book on
CD or tape while driving to and from work, exercising, or even while
working around the house. The library has over 2000 to
choose. There are also books on tape and CD for children, many
accompanied by actual books for the little ones to read along as they
listen. Books on tape or CD are also a great idea for entertaining
children on long car trips. The library has a selection of books on
tape or CD for young adults as well. Rather listen to music while
on the road? The Library has a variety of music CDs from classical
toopera to big band to rock and roll. There are more than 500 adult
music CDs. You will also find a collection of kids music CDs at
the library.
Internet
Access to the Internet is available at the Library. Inquire
at the Reference Desk for details on using the Internet or about
registering for the free Internet classes.
Facilities
Take a virtual tour of the new Library! As you enter the
Library you are greeted on the left by display cases. Local groups and
individuals exhibit special collections on a monthly basis. A door
leads into the Local History Room which houses the local archives. The
archives are available for research. Continuing on into the library you
are welcomed into the children's area where a large puppet theater
beckons children of all ages. Also in that area is the Programming
Room. Storytelling and crafts events for children are held there. The
book discussion groups meet there and authors and other speakers give
occasional special programs.
Going back to the middle of the Library we pass large tables
between aisles of books on either side. There is plenty of room for
research. But to read a magazine or book in real comfort go to the
sofas and chairs near the large windows. Especially helpful during busy
evenings and weekends, is a Quiet Study Room at the rear of the
Library. Near the Reference Desk are the computer stations with
Internet connections available for patrons. One computer station has
word processing available. A librarian is always available at the
Reference Desk for questions.
After you have selected a book and are on your way out use
the new self-checkout machine to check out your book. You won't have to
wait in line at the front desk.
